The NSW Council of Christians and Jews together with the Reference on Other Faiths group of The Uniting Church in Australia and the NSW Synod of the Uniting Church collectively invite you to meet three Interfaith Workers who through Abrahamic faith commonalities, seek to find solutions for people of different faiths to work together for the common good.
We can all learn from their experiences and commitment to 'problem solving' and take away with us, some valuable 'tools' to use in our own everyday interfaith work.
Its not often that one gets the chance to hear such speakers together. Accordingly please let your organisation and associated organisations and interfaith workers know about this event and then contact us to say you are able to come.
.
Dr Debbie Weissman, President of the International Council of Christians and Jews will be in Sydney for a few days with Rula Shubeita, a Christian, and Issa Jaber, a Muslim, all being part of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel (ICCI) which seeks to utilise the common values and bases of Christianity, Judaism and Islam as a means of engaging people through religious understanding, to embrace reconciliation, mutual coexistence and to promote understanding of each other's faith.
ICCI works with people to promote Jewish-Arab coexistence and peace building and is affiliated with the International Council of Christians and Jews.
Come and join us experience this encounter with the reality of coexistence as interfaith workers. This is a great example for us to hear and ask questions of those who deal with the practical aspects of working together.
The NSW Council of Christians and Jews, like the Reference on Other Faiths Group of the Uniting Church in Australia, and the NSW/ACT Synod of the Uniting Church are committed to interfaith dialogue and look forward to this first opportunity to collectively present this event. The Reference's website has only recently been established by the Uniting Church in Australia - at the foot of this email is some information about the Reference website for you to read.
The NSW Council of Christans and Jews is the State counterpart of the Australian Council of Christians and Jews which in turn is affiliated with the International Council of Christians and Jews. You can read about CCJ on: http://www.ccjaustralia.org/en/

About the DVD
Neighbourhoods of Difference: The Uniting Church in Australia and Interfaith Relations
The Uniting Church in Australia is part of the pluralistic, multi-cultural and multi-faith society that makes up Australia. The ethos of the Uniting Church in Australia leads us to engage in dialogue with and foster positive relationships with people from other faith communities. This DVD explores the Uniting Church’s perspective on relating with people of other faiths and gives practical examples of how Christians in our Church put “relationships with people of other faiths” into action.
The DVD is available upon request from the office of the Uniting Church in Australia National Assembly.
