Dr. Debbie Weissman and Rula Shubeita speak on Coexistence
through Religious Understanding in Israel
Dr. Debbie Weissman, President of the International Council of Christians and Jews will be in Sydney for a few days and we as NSW CCJ have the opportunity for our members and friends to hear her speak,
with Rula Shubeita, an Israeli Christian.
Both Debbie and Rula are part of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel (ICCI) which seeks to utilise the common values and bases of Christianity, Judaism and Islam as a means of engaging people through religious understanding, to embrace reconciliation, mutual coexistence and to promote understanding of each other's faith.
ICCI works with people to promote Jewish-Arab coexistence and peace building.A third member of the group, Issa Jaber, will unfortunately be unable to be with us on the day as he is flying home. That deprives us of the input of an Israeli Muslim, but it still enables us all to experience what peace building through religious understanding is and what it can achieve.
Come and join us experience this encounter with the reality of coexistence as part of our NSW CCJ Luncheon Club Special Event.
It will take place on Thursday, 27 August 2009, at the Great Synagogue Auditorium at 166 Castlereagh Street, Sydney, from 12.30pm until 2.00pm.
Please, for catering purposes, let us know if you and your friends are coming. Contact us on 9290.3222 or 0418-464056 or email to: szeklex@szeklex.com.au
We look forward to seeing you there.
